Kupwara, May 26 (KNO): The Jammu and Kashmir police in north Kashmir’s Kupwara district have solved the mysterious death of local youth within 48 hours and arrested three drug peddlers for selling large quantity of drugs to the deceased and his associates which led to his death. Fazil Mir, a 20-year-old boy from Regipora area of Kupwara went missing after he left his home on Friday forenoon and didn’t return while his body was found under mysterious conditions in Wogbal forest area later. The incident surfaced on the day of Eid which turned celebrations into mourning and sparked shock and anger across the district. Police had assured of prompt action and registered a case and initiated a probe on fast-track basis. Talking exclusively to news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), senior superintendent of police, Kupwara, Shriram Ambarkar, said that the case has been solved well on time and further legal charges would be pressed against the drug peddlers. Meanwhile a police spokesperson in a statement said that after a case was filed on the directions on senior superintendent of police Kupwara, an investigation was set into motion and during the probe it was learnt that on 22 and 23 May the deceased along with few associates had bought large amounts of drugs from multiple drug peddlers hailing from Guzriyal, Batergam, and other areas of the district. He said on May 22 deceased had left home in the forenoon and his dead body was recovered from Wogbal forest area later on May 24. “The deceased was last seen with his drug addict associates in a vehicle bearing registration no. JKO9B 4430 in Gulgam and batergam area.” He further said that in this regard three local drug peddlers (names withheld) have been detained for questioning in this regard. A case FIR no 118/202O under relevant provisions of law has been registered at police station Kupwara and further investigation of the case is underway. Police furthermore said that appropriate legal charges would be pressed against the drug peddlers. Meanwhile, the locals hailed the Kupwara police for their prompt action and solving the case within shortest possible time—(KNO)
